About My Style

Alright, so I suppose that a little bit of detail about my style and special interests in clothes are something pretty important to share, since I don't have a bunch of outfit posts yet for readers to get a feel for things. If you stumble across my blog, I want you to know what it's about so you can check back and go on this journey with me!

So, for starters. I'm 5'4 and a size 0 so I fall just on the cusp of petite-ness. I actually follow MANY petite blogs because they have really great information on fit to share. I'm long waisted so often it is pants I need petite, but not tops. Occasionally I buy petite dresses for a better overall fit, but if they have defined waists I usually need the regular sizing because the waist will sit way too high on my torso. So the point is, you'll see a bit of both but I'm definitely concerned with finding the right fit. I know it's heartbreaking to say no to that PERFECT jacket or pair of pants, but if it doesn't fit you will not wear it! And if you do, it won't stun the way it did when you first saw it.

Where do I shop? Everywhere! I once got most of my clothes from Forever 21, because all I saw was cheap price tags and the ability to get more stuff. As I've gotten older, however, I've realized that the prices are cheap for a reason. Rarely is the fit great and the quality is basically horrendous. That being said, I still shop there for trend pieces that I'm not willing to shell out the money for, just to wear for one season. And their selection is endless. I currently have store credit I've been trying to burn but I keep finding myself returning stuff because I don't love it. So that being said, I still have a lot of clothes from there so you'll frequently see them in outfit posts.

I'd say the next most frequented store is the Banana Republic Factory store. That store is more accessible to me than the retail store, and their price points are lower. I do love the retail store though. Then I dabble in all kinds of other stores like Ann Taylor, Loft, and their outlets/factory stores, Gap and Gap Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, J.Crew, TJMaxx and it's derivatives, Target, and countless others. I think that I'll do reviews of all of my recent purchases (that are still in stores and relevant).

I"m not just a retail shopper though. I love a bargain and I LOVE re-purposing  Thrifting is major love of mine that I don't get to do nearly often enough. The Goodwill stores near me have everything 1/2 off on the first Saturday of each month, which is a great way to scoop up old gems that have potential without spending too much (just incase you don't). I'd love to frequent some better thrift stores but they're often not convenient for me to visit.

Now the one thing I haven't addressed is my "style." I don't know exactly what to tell you there. I can't say I'm polished and classic, or trendy, or boho, or anything else, because every day my outfit can have a different vibe. I don't know if that's because I haven't found MY style yet, or if this is MY style. But I guess that's what this blog is here for.

Hello, hello!

Well isn't this exciting. My first honest-to-goodness blog post. Sure, I've dabbled in published thoughts on the internet. At various points in my life I've had a website through Geocities I believe (oh, middle school me), a Xanga, a Myspace account, a Facebook account, a couple tumblr blogs, a Twitter account, and most recently, an Instagram account. But taking the plunge and creating a blog that requires interesting content, polished thoughts, regular upkeep, and some genuine effort? That's a bit intimidating.

But anyways, now for a brief introduction. My name is Amanda and I'm 22 years old. I'm working on my Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, with hopes to obtain my masters immediately after in Biotechnology. I'm clothing obsessed but I won't make the grand statement of saying I'm super fashionable or a style guru. I know what I like and care about it a lot though, and you'll see plenty of my personal style on this blog. I have ambitions of being crafty and exercising regularly, as well as maintaining a social life and enjoying quality time with my boyfriend. However, I seem to be too pressed for time (or too lazy?) to balance all of these, plus school and work. I'm hoping that in efforts to keep this blog interesting, I'll expand my interests and spend more time doing new things. I think that introduction should suffice for now, as I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity to talk about myself as time goes on.

For seasoned blogging pros that stumble across my itty bitty baby blog, suggestions are always welcomed! I'd love some great lifestyle, fashion, and any other blogs to follow to draw inspiration from. I'd like to eventually feature regular posts (i.e. What I Wore Wednesday, etc.), so suggestions there are appreciated too.

My current goals are to post at least once a week at first and then more frequently as I become accustomed to it, complete with photo sets and truly interesting content, and discover outlets to get my blog out there (once there's some content to read).
